About the IFAT 2018

The good news is: there was no bad news

The IFAT 2018 enabled us to strengthen our unique position as a sustainable innovator in the area of drainage. On the one hand, this was made possible thanks to our innovative BG-FILCOTEN one, but also thanks to our decision to make the environmental performance evaluations for our products transparent, in other words: verifiable.

The change continues

This year too, the IFAT in Munich lived up to its claim of being the most important international trade fair for water and raw materials. 3,300 exhibitors – a new record. Today, 48 percent are international companies. This is not surprising, because water and environmental technology are increasingly focused on beyond national borders. This development is particularly true to our concerns. All in all, the great interest in our booth and our products exceeded our expectations.

Powerful products for a clean future

Following a great amount of development work, we presented BG-FILCOTEN one, a world premiere in innovation: the first monolithic drainage channel for dynamic loads made from FILCOTEN HPC, a highly stable high-performance concrete. The channel system is distinguished by a variety of innovative features (see video at the end of the article) in addition to being extremely robust. We will provide detailed information on BG-FILCOTEN one in a separate article.

To us, the second big step at the IFAT was to publish our environmental performance report for BG-FILCOTEN one. This means we are disclosing our environmental indicators on greenhouse gas emissions, primary energy and fresh water requirements. The topic sparked great interest within the industry and was a real conversation starter – after all, this kind of transparency enables builders to improve the environmental performance of an entire construction project. It became obvious that, with our transparent and innovative approach, we are addressing the important issue of sustainability in the right way – just like Klemens Wiese and Karl-Heinz Gramlich in the following video:

And there is more …

We also presented our trade fair visitors with other highlights. BG-FILCOTEN parkline is a monolithic drainage channel that is also suitable for the large amounts of water in parking garages due to its low overall height. Our BG-AQUA green offers the highest substrate channel on the market and is an optimal solution for cleaning and drainage of large amounts of precipitation on-site. Ultraslot and Castslot, two systems by our partner GATIC, also attracted great interest.
